Graduated in Physics at Liverpool University in 1968.  Trained and qualified as a Patent Attorney in private practice in London.  Experienced in protecting inventions across a broad spectrum of technologies. Worked as an in-house Patent and Trade Mark Attorney for Marconi from 1978 to 2003 with  special responsibilities for Trade Marks, disputes, litigation and contractual issues.  Awarded the UK Higher Courts Litigator Certificate in 2001.Represented the United Kingdom Government on issues relating to patents and telecommunication standards.
